Mahé
Mahé is the largest island and the international gateway to Seychelles. It is home to the nation’s capital, Victoria, which claims to be the smallest capital in the world.
This spectacular granitic island is easily recognisable by its unique sculptured granite boulders which run alongside stunning white sand beaches. With a backdrop of towering 1000m granite peaks, Mahé is an extraordinary island of lush flora that has evolved over centuries of splendid isolation.
Mahé is the main hub, home to numerous picture-postcard beaches, top-notch hotels, the virtually deserted Morne Seychellois National Park and quirky Victoria, the world’s smallest capital city with its colourful markets and vibrant local life. Nearby is beach-blessed Praslin, also famed for its hauntingly beautiful primeval forest Vallée de Mai, thick with 6000-plus coco-de-mer trees.
