Luxury holidays in Greece
Greece is a country of extraordinary variety, where ancient landscapes, beautiful coastlines and a strong sense of local life shape every journey. Santorini brings volcanic drama and caldera views, while Mykonos has energy, style and wonderfully photogenic old streets. Paros and Antiparos move at a gentler pace, Folegandros feels wonderfully under the radar and Crete combines beaches, mountains, villages and layers of history. In the Ionian, Corfu and Kefalonia are greener and more relaxed, while Halkidiki and The Peloponnese reveal a completely different side of mainland Greece, with quiet coves, archaeological sites and characterful towns. Food is woven through it all, from simple seafood tavernas and local olive oil to regional wines and long lunches by the water. Whether you island-hop, explore the mainland or settle into one place, Greece rewards curiosity with a different rhythm, flavour and landscape at every turn.
Where to stay in Greece
F Zeen Retreat
It’s hard to describe the pure life-enhancing joy of F Zeen, a small family-run retreat on the southern coast of Kefalonia. Overlooking the bay of Lourdas (a popular spot for nesting turtles), this adult-only oasis is far removed from fast-paced modern living.
Minos Beach Art Hotel
Located on Crete’s north-east coast in Agios Nikolaos, the hotel feels peaceful and secluded while still being within walking distance of the town’s harbour, restaurants and cafés. Heraklion Airport is around an hour away by car.
Gundari
Gundari is a luxury resort surrounded by 80 acres of spectacular, raw nature on the secluded island of Folegandros. Set up high on rugged hills overlooking the Aegean Sea, Gundari has been designed to inspire and invigorate with wellness, gastronomy and sustainability at its heart.
The Beach House
Set on the sheltered curve of Apantima Bay on Antiparos, the little-known sister island to Paros, The Beach House captures the essence of a traditional Greek island summer.
The Rooster
Tucked away between sand dunes and the dramatic coastline of Antiparos, an under-the-radar Greek island gem in the Aegean, this boho boutique hideout is a place to unwind and recalibrate, with organic farm-to-fork food and holistic spa treatments. It's an all-encompassing wellness retreat that celebrates the island's go-slow vibe and soulful healing energy.
Andronis Arcadia
Located on the fringe of Santorini’s most famous village, postcard-perfect Oia, on the northwestern tip, Andronis Arcadia is perfectly positioned to capture the island’s magical sunsets. Contemporary, white-washed, low-slung villas and suites, tumble down the Caldera hillside, all with views towards the Aegean Sea.
Parilio Hotel
Time seems to almost slow to a stop at Parilio Hotel, the unhurried metronome of Paros amplified in a cream-coloured cocoon where long, lazy afternoons are as dreamy as they sound.
Cosme
Cosme is a stylish contemporary retreat with wellness spa and private beach club, gloriously set on the island's Cycladic Aegean shores.
Andronis Boutique Hotel
Dramatically perched high above the deep blue water of the Aegean on Santorini’s northwestern tip, this romantic bolthole hugs the cliffside in the heart of vibrant Oia – Santorini’s acclaimed sunset village. As you descend the stone steps to the hotel, the unfolding vista is utterly breathtaking.
Istoria Hotel
Overlooking the charcoal-black Perivolos Beach on the south-eastern coast, Istoria is about as far away as you can get (both in location and appearance) from the classic whitewashed villages Santorini is known for – but it's no less magical.
Katikies Kirini
Clinging to a volcanic cliffside on the outskirts of Santorini’s poster-child village of Oia, Katikies Kirini manages to blend total serenity with one of Greece’s trendiest postcodes. Its location is hard to beat, with the vistas of Santorini’s caldera and the azure Aegean Sea available from every room of a truly heavenly calibre.
Domes Zeen Chania
Wonderfully hugging a hillside with glorious views out across the sea on Crete’s north-west coast, within walking distance of pretty Chania, Domes Zeen is a beachfront resort with a boho-chic vibe. Family friendly, the interior is a stylish design mix of stone, wood, muted textiles and rattan touches. The rooms and villas spill down the hillside from the elevated modernist reception to the black-tiled swimming pool and pebbly beach below.
Katikies Hotel Santorini Oia
The luxury boutique hotel Katikies Santorini is right in the thick of hip, happening and handsome Oia, a glamorous address that is Santorini’s answer to Knightsbridge. And if Oia can be described using those three Hs, then Katikies Santorini excels in a trio of S words: sunsets, sea views and swimming pools.
Daios Cove
For all-out luxury, Daios Cove is five-star from top to bottom (quite literally). Cleverly carved into a natural amphitheatre above a secluded private cove just south of Agios Nikolaos, the resort cascades down the hillside over five different levels, accessed via a combination of winding steps, paths and a funicular that can zip you from bedroom to beach in a flash.
The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino
Gloriously tucked away in the beautiful, unspoiled Peloponnese peninsula at the southern tip of mainland Greece, The Westin Costa Navarino is a family friendly Greek hotspot worth adding to your bucket list.
Katikies Garden
Taking up residence in an 11th-century Catholic monastery, Katikies Garden is a tranquil retreat tucked away among the lanes of Santorini's capital, Fira. Both couples and families will find this an irresistible hideaway, an oasis of relaxation amid Fira's snaking alleyways.
Ikos Odisia
Set on the topmost peninsula of Corfu’s Dassia Bay and overlooking Ipsos Bay, Ikos Odisia is a serene escape where natural beauty meets luxury. With its stunning beachfront location, exquisitely kept gardens, delicious dining, and world-class service, this new all-inclusive resort invites you to experience the magic of the Ionian in ultimate style and comfort. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or a little of both, Ikos Odisia promises an unforgettable getaway. With Ikos you get the opportunity to hire one of their own Tesla cars for free, as well as the dine around option which allows you to eat at handpicked local restaurants as part of your package.
W Costa Navarino
W Costa Navarino is located at the Navarino Waterfront, a 30 acre beachfront setting by the Ionian Sea, the first W Hotel in Greece and it brings inspiring energy to the Peloponnese coast.
Katikies Chromata
Perched right at the peak of the caldera's rim, Katikies Chromata has the best seat in the house on Santorini. Chromata takes its name from the Greek for 'colours', a nod to the blue sky and Aegean Sea, charcoal-black caldera cliffs and white sugar-cube villages you can spot from the hotel's lofty vantage point.
Ikos Aria
Tucked away on Corfu’s sun-drenched shores backing a 420m long beach in Dassia Bay, Ikos Dassia combines contemporary Mediterranean style with exceptional Greek hospitality. Overlooking the shimmering Ionian Sea and framed by fragrant pine forests, this luxurious resort is a haven of relaxation, all-inclusive indulgence, and adventure.
Katikies Villas
Sitting just above golden Elia Beach, the longest stretch of sand in Mykonos, Katikies Villas are a luxury collection of one, two and three-bedroom retreats found along a quieter corner of the island's southern coastline.
Sani Resort
Gloriously chic and renowned as being one of the world’s leading luxury family beach resorts, Sani is a collection of five award-winning hotels on the Kassandra peninsula in the stunning Halkidiki region of mainland Greece. The resort is scattered across 1,000 acres of nature reserve with pine forest trails, wetlands and beautiful unspoiled white sand beaches lapped by the azure waters of the Aegean Sea, all in the shadow of Mount Olympus.
Katikies Mykonos
Hugging the hillside above cream-coloured Agios Ioannis beach on the island's south-western coast, Katikies Mykonos fuses the cool, classy atmosphere of Mykonos with the timeless glamour of the Cyclades.
Ikos Dassia
Tucked away on Corfu’s sun-drenched shores backing a 600m long beach in Dassia Bay, Ikos Dassia combines contemporary Mediterranean style with exceptional Greek hospitality. Overlooking the shimmering Ionian Sea and framed by fragrant pine forests, this luxurious resort is a haven of relaxation, all-inclusive indulgence, and adventure. With an award-winning Infinite Lifestyle concept, every moment is designed to delight; from gourmet dining to world-class service and exceptional experiences. With Ikos you get the opportunity to hire one of their own Tesla cars for free, as well as the dine around option which allows you to eat at local restaurants as part of your package. Add free (non-motorised) water sports and unlimited room service and it’s an incredibly appealing resort option.
Best time to visit Greece
Greece enjoys a long, sunny season from late April to October, with most island hotels opening for the summer months. May and June are ideal for exploring, walking and sightseeing before the hottest weather arrives, while July and August bring peak summer conditions and warm seas.
September is one of our favourite times to visit, with plenty of sunshine, fewer crowds and beautifully warm water. April can also be lovely for a quieter spring escape. Crete’s southerly position means its season often stretches well into October, making it a great option for late summer or autumn sunshine.

Beyond the hotel walls
Greece is best experienced beyond the hotel walls: lingering over lunch in a local taverna, finding a hidden beach, hopping on a ferry and spending time in the villages, markets and everyday places that give each island its character.

British passport holders don't need a visa to visit Greece.
Weather-wise, May to September is the best time to visit Greece. We'd recommend travelling outside the peak season in July and August if you can and in May, June or September you can see its islands at their very best with thinner crowds. April and October are the beginning and end of Greece's traditional tourist season and are excellent times to visit: the weather is still warm and places are much quieter. See our full weather guide and chart above.
The currency is the Euro.
There are direct flights from London to the Greek islands of Crete, Santorini and Mykonos. The average flight time is around four hours.
Even though Greek is the native language in Greece, most locals can speak English very well. Even though you will easily get by with English, we'd certainly suggest learning so friendly Greek phrases to use during your holiday!
Greece can be found in the south-eastern corner of Europe and borders several countries, including Albania, Bulgaria and Turkey. Its islands are scattered all over the Mediterranean Sea, with Crete the southernmost of them all.
The time difference is GMT +2 hours.

What Our Travellers Say
“As enthusiastic retirees with a serious case of wanderlust, my wife and I now travel abroad at least four times a year. We'd been subscribed to The Turquoise Holiday Company mailing list for years, but it wasn't until we spotted a special offer for Thailand in November 2019 that we finally booked our first holiday with them.Interestingly, a few months earlier, while waiting for a flight to the Maldives in June 2019, we noticed another couple travelling with a Turquoise travel bag. At the time, we thought little of it, but looking back, it was perhaps an early sign that we were about to discover a travel company that would become our go-to specialist for luxury holidays. Our first experience with Turquoise was excellent and gave us the confidence to book a Maldives holiday for June 2020. Then, of course, COVID struck and brought the travel industry to a standstill. What impressed us most was the way Turquoise handled an incredibly difficult situation. Rather than leaving us in limbo, they worked tirelessly to rearrange our holiday multiple times, adapting to constantly changing restrictions and circumstances. Eventually, in November 2020, despite flying with a different airline and staying at a different hotel than originally planned, we were able to enjoy a much-needed Maldives escape when many other travel plans around the world had simply been cancelled altogether. That experience cemented our trust in The Turquoise Holiday Company. Since then, we have booked many holidays through them and now use them for the vast majority of our trips abroad. What consistently sets Turquoise apart is the quality of its people. Every member of staff we have dealt with has been knowledgeable, professional, friendly and exceptionally thorough. Their expertise, attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile give us complete confidence that every aspect of our holiday is being carefully managed. In an age where genuine customer service can be hard to find, The Turquoise Holiday Company continues to deliver it in abundance. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking for a travel agent that combines expert knowledge, outstanding customer care and absolute professionalism. They have played a major part in some of our most memorable travel experiences, and we look forward to booking many more adventures with them in the years ahead.”
“Right from first contact, Bethany & colleagues were great. Bethany adjusted the holiday offered several times to get it just how we wanted it, & it was everything she said it would be. We went to Coco Bodu Hithi & it was amazing, I thoroughly recommend it. Turquoise have a great app which was really useful & they were there for us all along the way, even sending me updates on flights. I recommend them 100%.”
“Everything was so efficient from our very first contact. We are not seasoned travellers so the support/help/advice we received from Lucy all the way through was so reassuring. Even the daftest question was never too much trouble. Looking forward to booking again for 2028 - we wouldn’t dream of looking forward alternative travel agents. Thank you so much 🥰”
“I am so thankful we used Turquoise Holidays! From start to finish they were exceptional. A shout out to Martha who designed and organised our honeymoon for us - she took the stress out of planning, understood the vision and put together our dream holiday. She was a pleasure to work with and it was beyond anything we could have imagined. I can’t tell you how relieved we were to have all of our transport and transfers sorted the other side. Especially for a trip like ours with lots of flights and travel, using Turquoise Holidays made it so much easier. We also used the concierge services to book activities and they were so helpful and kind. Will definitely use Turquoise again, I can’t wait for our next holiday!”
“Sophie was brilliant from start to finish. From the very first email she was professional but also had that friendly touch. Any amendments I wanted to our honeymoon plans she came back with the updated itinerary. Even after 5 iterations she was still incredible with the responses. I would highly recommend using turquoise travel and we will definitely be using them again”
“Amazing Family Holiday and just what we asked for! We wanted a resort and location that was approriate for small kids but had all the luxuries for adults, and Turquoise holidays provided a great service. Commincation was great and they took all the pain out of the small details and provided an excellent service and the value was outstanding!”
“Just got back from a fantastic Holiday in Mauritius with which I booked the Holiday with Turquoise Holidays. This is my first time I have booked with this company and I will have no hesitation in booking again, from start to finish the correspondence I had with Milly and the rest of the team at Turquoise as been outstanding. Thankyou Neil & Jane”
“Enjoyable trip to Canada.Jonty made excellent recommendations as always, hotels were great in every respect.Highly recommend Turquoise for their advice and insight into places and hotels at a very good price point. We have used many times in the past and will continue do use again in the future.”
“Mrs Stone organised all my flights details and extra help extremely well.”
“This was the best travel agent experience we have ever had. We went on a bespoke 5 week trip to Australia. Our agent, Stuart, designed a trip exactly matching our requirements and really listened to us when we described the brief. What came through strongly during the course of the trip was Turquoise’s ability to not just source the best properties/accommodation, but the best rooms in those properties. Likewise with the tours and activities that they organised — everything felt highly curated and considered. When any queries arose or we wanted to change the bugs, the team was super-responsive through the app. We will definitely use them again have recommended them to many friends.”
“We had a really good time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The blend of activity and adventures in Sri Lanka mixed with the relaxation and tranquility of the Maldives, worked extremely well and the itinerary put together by Turquoise was excellent.Overall we were very impressed with Sri Lanka and whilst hectic at times enjoyed our busy agenda. We found all the accommodation wonderful and food was plentiful and enjoyable. We were pleased to have climbed the two rocks to see the sunset/sunrise albeit a bit daunting when we realised the climbing challenge ahead.Special mention has to go to our driver/guide Mahesh who was excellent and really helped make our trip run smoothly. He was knowledgeable, practical and always prompt. In fact our only hiccup occurred when trying to leave the Notary House to fly to Male. We had booked a 4am alarm call, bags to be picked up at 4.20am and “breakfast to go” ready for 4.30am. Fortunately we had used our own phone alarms as we awoke to a completely silent hotel, no alarm call, no bags collected and no breakfast, and no driver. We did however just about hear a car hooting and on seeing some lights at the end of the long drive to the hotel set off and found Mahesh. However, the gates were padlocked shut and Mahesh was locked out and we were locked in! Fortunately Mahesh had a number for the hotel and after ringing several times, an apologetic staff member appeared and unlocked the gate and off we went. Phew !After making our plane we successfully arrived in Male and took the speedboat to Velassaru. We thought the island was impeccably well kept and had obviously been recently modernised in many areas. Our room - 205 - was perfectly positioned close to the Chill Bar, and ideal for drinking cocktails and watching the sunset, yet only a small walk from all other amenities including the buffet restaurant where we ate all our meals. We found the breakfast plentiful and varied but thought the offerings for dinner were less extensive than on other islands( maybe we were a bit spoilt at Six Senses last year ! ). We were also disappointed that given we were half board had we wished to use any of the other 3 à la carte restaurants for dinner then this was additionally chargeable albeit with a 30% discount. And yes, sadly the view from our villa of Thilafushi was certainly not ideal or romantic but overall we still agreed that Velassaru was a lovely island with everything you would expect from a trip to the Maldives.Overall we were very satisfied and would consider doing a similar trip again and definitely using Turquoise albeit I think we would allow for a longer journey from Male and take the seaplane even if that did eat into a bit more of our holiday time. Thanks again to Anthony for listening to our requirement and tailoring our trip to suit our needs.Steve ( and Cathy )”
“Always so helpful, professional and efficient, thank you once again!”
