This is our idea of the perfect Sri Lankan hideaway - a privately-owned jungle estate perched high on a hill with its own tea plantation, yet just five minutes from pristine Kabalana Beach. We love how Tekanda strikes that magical balance between wilderness immersion and coastal chill, surrounded by wildlife and tranquility while keeping the south coast's best beaches and Galle's colonial charm within easy reach. The intimate six-room lodge feels more like staying at a friend's estate than a hotel, with family-style dining around communal tables and personalised experiences that showcase the real Sri Lanka. It's a place where fireflies light up your evening swim and dawn brings a symphony of tropical birds.

Six thoughtfully designed rooms offer flexibility for different travel styles across two categories. The four Lodge Rooms surround a central courtyard with sweeping views over jungle canopy and rice paddies - we particularly love how families can book adjoining rooms with shared day rooms to create natural family suites. The two elevated Cabanas provide different perspectives: Cabana Kale overlooks the jungle valley with built-in daybeds perfect for children, while Cabana Kumbura boasts spectacular paddy field vistas. All rooms open onto private verandas or balconies where the sounds of the estate create the perfect natural soundtrack.
