Krabi & Ko Lanta, Thailand
With limestone cliffs rising above sandy bays and turquoise water, Krabi is the Thai beach escape many of us picture. Stay close to Ao Nang’s restaurants, cafés and bars, or head north to quieter shores where the scenery takes centre stage. Boat trips reveal offshore islands and hidden coves, giving you plenty of reasons to venture beyond your sunlounger. Further south, Koh Lanta rewards a slightly longer journey with long sandy beaches, welcoming villages and a relaxed island feel. Spend an afternoon exploring, stop for lunch beside the sea or simply settle into your favourite spot and watch the sunset. Pair the two for a lovely contrast, or choose whichever feels most like your idea of a holiday.

View ItineraryBest time to visit Krabi & Koh Lanta
November to April is a lovely time to visit Krabi and Koh Lanta, with generally drier days and calmer seas for beach stays and island adventures. December to February brings comfortable warmth, before temperatures climb towards April. From May to October, tropical rain keeps the landscape lush, but rougher seas can limit boat trips, and some offshore national park sites close seasonally. For a holiday with plenty of time on the water, we favour the drier months.
Where to stay in Krabi & Koh Lanta
Choose from elegant beachfront resorts, intimate hideaways and private pool villas, with beautiful settings for couples and families alike. In Krabi, limestone cliffs frame the coast, with quieter stays around Klong Muang and Tubkaek or boat-accessed retreats on Railay. Koh Lanta offers long sandy beaches and a relaxed island feel, with west-facing stays perfectly placed for sunset. We’ll help you choose between easy access to restaurants and excursions or a more secluded stretch of shore.
Rayavadee
If your expectation of a beach escape in Thailand involves giant sun-kissed limestone karsts rising majestically from the ocean and white sand beaches encircling jungle clad hillsides, then Rayavadee might just be the place for you. Although theoretically located on the mainland, the resort is dotted across a beautiful peninsula and only accessible by boat. This is a truly breathtaking property in a dazzling location with a wonderful sense of traditional Thailand.
Pimalai Resort & Spa
Koh Lanta is a very peaceful place, a natural island with a quiet charm that is thankfully still largely unspoiled with beautiful beaches and soaring emerald green mountains but it is more than this that makes Pimalai so extraordinary. We think it’s the luxury of somewhere very special that manages to be very unique and exclusive but without any of the fuss. Overlooking beautiful Kantiang Bay and surrounded by native forest, this well laid out and low-rise resort sits absolute beachfront and then clambers into the hills behind. Access to the resort is from the mainland jetty by launch – all adding to the sense of exclusivity.
Layana Resort & Spa
This lovely, adults-only resort (no children under 12) spills throughout beautiful gardens onto vast swathe of white sand beach on the island of Koh Lanta. Set within the Mu Koh Lanta National Park – a breath-taking marine archipelago that is home to luxuriant tropical rainforests and an underwater world splashed rainbow-bright with colourful coral and a hugely rich diversity of marine creatures.
Banyan Tree Krabi
If Banyan Tree Krabi only had a solitary trump card to play, it would be this: location, location, location. Wedged between the buttermilk-hued Tubkaak beach and the jungle-wrapped hills of Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park, it can lay claim to one of Krabi's most idyllic corners.
